Homemade Turkey Stew, With Toast On The Side

Happy New Year everyone! It’s officially winter 2016, you know what that means, baby it’s cold outside. Warm up with a hot, homemade bowl of turkey stew.

I’m obsessed with turkey and enjoy eating it outside of Thanksgiving. This hardy bowl of stew satiates that craving, but is also an ideal warm weather meal. If you’re not a fan of turkey, you can substitute this recipe with chicken or keep it vegetarian. It’s super simple and incredibly satisfying.

One major thing, ditch store bought chicken stock when preparing this dish. It’s packed with sodium and completely unnecessary. Water and proper seasoning works just fine and cuts out excess salt.

Unfortunately, I don’t use exact measurements when preparing this recipe, I just eyeball things and work from there so I apologize for not including exact measurements in the ingredient list.


  • water
  • potatoes
  • corn
  • onions
  • red chili peppers
  • cooked turkey
  • sea salt and pepper
  • garlic
  • curry powder
  • cardomen


  • bring water to a simmer
  • add seasoning, garlic, potatoes, onions, red chili peppers and turkey
  • let potatoes soften then add corn
  • let stew simmer for 30 to 45 minutes, mixing periodically
  • serve alongside whole grain buttered toast
